I promised you funky Ben Sollee, here he is...

And Casey Driessen ain't bad either. Great fiddle work and great cello work to be sure....

More Ben Sollee, More WFPK,

There are a couple more videos from a 2nd WFPK show. Nice guitar work from his frequent collaborator Craig Wagner.

Ben Sollee Encore from the WFPK show

Possibly the most fun song from the show. "Extraordinary Machine" But I really like all of his stuff to be sure.

Ben Sollee #7 from the WFPK show

Another fun bluegrassy tune from the show. "Bury Me With My Car".

Ben Sollee #5 from the WFPK show....

Song is called "Panning For Gold" Looks like effortless fingering on Ben's part. Nice work.

Ben Sollee #4 from the WFPK show

More beautiful cello work. Still on the mellow side, but don't worry, there are some funkier bits coming up.

Here's Ben Sollee Part 3 of the WFPK show

The song title is "Prettiest Tree On The Mountain" More of a traditional Bluegrassy feel to it. Ben's got a real interesting voice.

Song #2 from Ben Sollee

More from Ben Sollee's concert in Louisville on WFPK. He's getting a little more funky on the cello. Lot's of fun and great chops. Watch and enjoy.

Introducing You To Ben Sollee

I came across Ben Sollee channel surfing a couple of months ago and was absolutely amazed at his musicianship. He's one of those musicians who deserves to be heard and grown into a superstar. I'm including all of the videos from this Radio Show he did last year. There's a lot of range to this guy. Enjoy

Great Movie, Great Group, The Commitments

Alan Parker brought The Commitments to our attention, and did they grab it. Their song selection was absolutely top notch. Here are the Commitments singing the WICKED Wilson Pickett's In The Midnight Hour.

U2's got it Good and it is BAD

It's amazing to think that U2 has been recording for almost 30 years. And this particular video is almost 25 years old. Taken from Live Aid, Bad is probably my favorite U2 song. I freely admit, I am much more a fan of their 1st decade than of their last 2. That said, I did enjoy their week on Letterman. That is quite possibly the coolest television event since John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosting Mike Douglas.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day....

And to celebrate, I'm sorry to say that there will be no Green Beer, BUT there will be a nice sampling of great Irish Rockers. First up is Van "The Man" Morrison with his very first hit done live in NYC in February of 2009.

More of what I call Crunchy Jazz from John Coltrane

Back when I hosted a Jazz Show of WXPR-FM in Rhinelander Wisconsin, I coined the term Crunchy Jazz. It's a direct slam to Smooth Jazz. While I really enjoy some of the original players that either adopted or had the label thrust upon them, the majority of players barely acknowledge the Jazz Players of Yesterday.

Now then after that rant, enjoy this classic John Coltrane...

God Bless You Tube... Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie

From 1951, Charlie and Dizzy being given awards from Downbeat Magazine. The performance is Hot House. Nice work from both. Fairly late in Bird's career, but he still had his chops.

A true Steve Winwood Traffic classic

Low Spark of High Heeled Boys has always been one of my favorite songs since its' release. I'm posting it here because a very good friend mentioned it as one of hers as well. I think Steve was still answering to Stevie back then, but he had the chops of piano players twice his age. He was only about 24 when this performance was recorded.

Tom Waits Interviews are as wonderful as his music.

This interview shows how much fun Tom can have with a pretentious idiot who doesn't get him. Some of the comments are hilarious as well.
