Genesis w/Peter Gabriel Lamb Lies Down On Broadway pt6

Finally, the finale. I suppose the good thing about having this concert performance broken up into segments is that it's easy to walk away for a while and come back to it later. There haven't been any comments yet, but I do hope there are some visitors beginning to discover this true labor of love. The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway deserves a place of honor in Rock History.

Genesis w/Peter Gabriel Lamb Lies Down On Broadway pt5

I truly hope you're still with me here. This is one of those rare gems that makes YouTube the true phenomenon that it is. There are some incredible performances that I've found that are of true historical value as well in the annals of music history.
I believe that this is one such performance.

Genesis w/Peter Gabriel Lamb Lies Down On Broadway pt4

Continuing the concert performance of one of the truly Classic Rock Albums that is rarely if ever played on any Radio Stations. The original album is available on CD so you can hear the original Lamb lies Down On Broadway in all it's sonic glory.

Genesis w/Peter Gabriel Lamb Lies Down On Broadway pt3

OK, there are a few gaps, but that's what happens when you break a seamless garment/concert into chunks. It's still a blast to hear this classic concept album in concert. You can actually hear Phil Collins harmonies, especially on Carpet Crawlers in this video segment. I found some video from Trick of the Tail that I'll add that shows Phil Collins as the lead singer BEFORE he went Hollywood...

Genesis w/Peter Gabriel Lamb Lies Down On Broadway pt2

The question I have about this shoot is how the heck did the person taping the show get a video camera 1974 vintage into the concert to tape it? And I must say the editing on these videos is very well done as well. Even if the overall quality is only fair.

Genesis was truly a Revelation.....

I can't believe it was actually 34 years ago that I saw this show at Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis. "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" was their crowning achievement. Then Peter Gabriel left and Genesis began their slow slide into commercialism. And here for the 1st time in 34 years, for me at least, is the complete Lamb in concert. The video isn't the best quality, but it's still wonderful stuff.

Meat Loaf Paradise

What a GREAT song. Steinman's Lyrics, Roy Bittan's Piano, Karla Da Vito, Come on Hold Tight....

Something for all you Phish Heads

I'm a Phish Head and proud of it. So sit back and enjoy a great live performance of "Bouncing Around The Room". All of the wonderful aspects of Phish, great guitar, excellent harmonies, quirky lyrics.

Little Feat Another of My Favorite Bands.....

And another of my favorite songs. Great musicianship and a wonderfully funky tune. Dixie Chicken is such a great little song. I'm glad that this live version doesn't include the synthesizer that ended the tune on Waiting For Columbus. A little abrupt on the ending, but still a great version of a great song.

Duke Ellington and Paul Gonsalves Crescendo and Diminuendo in Blue

What can I say about this recording that hasn't been said already. Other than God Bless YouTube for making it available to the masses. There isn't a wasted note in this piece. It was cut a teeny bit short, but I am in NO way complaining.

Michael Brecker Delta City Blues Solo

Yes, I realize that I'm posting a 2nd version of the same Michael Brecker song, but this is Delta City Blues done solo, that's without ANY accompaniment. I'll find other videos by him to post here for your listening and viewing pleasure.

From Miles To Michael Brecker

I met Michael Brecker while he was on vacation in West Palm Beach in 1980. I had first heard him on Still Crazy After All These Years by Paul Simon. So I was a little star struck. But he was one of the most humble people I have ever met in my life. Delta City Blues is my favorite Michael moment. I love counterpoint and syncopation. Since I first heard he was sick, my heart broke. And since he's been gone, I can't watch these performances without getting tears in my eyes. But they are his legacy and a wonderful way to preserve his memory. Heaven's a better place with you in the Sax Section Michael, my friend.

Here's Miles Part 3 From CBS-TV 1959

What an amazing show this is. I hope you've enjoyed seeing these videos. I'm having an absolute blast posting them.

Miles Davis Part 2 CBS-TV 1959

This video starts off with "So What" from Kind of Blue, one of THE greatest Jazz Records of All Time. Heck, one of the Greatest Records of ANY genre.

One Name Says It All.... Miles

...Davis, that is. And when you add John Coltrane to the mix, this performance from 1959, Words just describe the talent of these 2 Giants of Jazz.

Amazing Harmonies From Gentle Giant

This is the 2nd video from a 1978 Concert performance by Gentle Giant, one of my favorite bands of all time. On Reflection

I'll take Obscure English Progressive Rock Bands for 500 Dollars Alex

I first discovered Gentle Giant while doing DJ work at Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, Florida in 1977. What an absolutely amazing group of musicians. Listen to the intricate counterpoint of this song. This is what I think of when I think of CLASSIC Rock.

Tom Waits Performs at the Bridge School Benefit Pt. 2

Tom starts off this video with a great blues. He's always had some great backing musicians ever since he first started recording. I admit I've listened to his earlier music more than his recent stuff, but I'm working on that as well.

More Tom Waits to Ponder....

The next 2 videos are from Tom Waits' appearance at The Bridge School Benefit. Neil Young has put on benefits for the Bridge School for years and attracted some amazing talent. God Bless youtube for giving folks a way to post these otherwise unavailable gems.

Tom's still as unique as always if not more so. But still very much his own man.

Another Early Tom Waits Appearance...

This time on the Mike Douglas Show. Amazing to think that Tom's been around for over 30 years. God bless, Eagles, Rod Stewart, and Bruce Springsteen for covering his music and helping him make a good living under the general radar.

And then there's Mike Douglas. He hosted some amazing talent. Remember the week he had John Lennon and Yoko Ono as Co-Hosts? Amazing stuff. Enjoy another classic perfomance of Tom Waits.

Tom Waits For Everyone

Now then, You've heard a few things from an Old Favorite, A New Favorite, And Da Boss, But I have to say that my ULTIMATE favorite has to be Tom Waits. I first heard him on a little Radio Station in Jupiter, Florida and fell in love with him at that time. He is so out there, he's just amazing. Watch this early appearance on Martin Mull's Fernwood Tonight.

Robert Randolph AND Dave Matthews Together

Robert's much more of a sideman here, But still some awesome musicianship here. Awesome solo about 5:30. They do have a lot of fun...

Robert Randolph AND Eric Clapton Together

I've mentioned a few times that Robert Randolph opened for Eric Clapton on his most recent tour. Here they are together. Sounds a little muddy, But hey, it's a "Muddy" Waters song.....

OOOOPS Forgot the video

That's what I get for groovin to the video while I'm blogging. Soooo without further ado... ROBERT RANDOLPH AND THE FAMILY BAND.........

You want to hear Robert Randolph JAM???

When Robert Randolph says MARCH, I certainly want to get in step. This performance is from Eric Clapton's Crossroads Music Festival. I'm sure it's part of the reason Eric chose him to open up for him on his latest tour. I missed the shows, but I think that youtube is certainly a blessing to be sure.

Another Robert Randolph Appearance on Letterman

And the hits just keep on coming.... Robert Randolph is known for his musicianship and his Jam Band credentials, and don't worry, I'm getting to them. But here's another HOT appearance on Letterman.

Robert Randolph and the Family Band

Robert Randolph is currently My favorite musician. When I heard him one night on Austin City Limits I was absolutely blown away. He plays the pedal steel guitar the way Duane Allman played slide. He opened for Eric Clapton's last American Tour and I was ready to buy tickets more to see Robert Randolph live than Clapton.

Here's his first appearence on the Letterman Show

Well, It IS Christmas, So here's my FAVORITE Christmas Song....

I haven't found the version that was on A Very Special Christmas 2, But it's THE song and THE BOSS, Soooooo without further ado.... Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night

And for my next trick

Here's "What Made America Famous", the song that opened Harry's Soundstage PBS appearance. I remember listening to this song on Verities and Balderdash, with his biggest hit "Cat's in the Cradle" and thinking as good a song as that was, it really is my least favorite song on the album.

Welcome To My World

What you're going to find in this blog are music videos that have come to mean something. These are certainly personal Favorites of mine for various reasons, but they also should be heard by everyone at least once.

I'm starting with Harry Chapin's "Taxi". I may go ahead just add all of the Chapin videos I have right now. And if you like his music, check out the organization he founded in 1975. World Hunger Year, http://worldhungeryear.org/
