I came across Ben Sollee channel surfing a couple of months ago and was absolutely amazed at his musicianship. He's one of those musicians who deserves to be heard and grown into a superstar. I'm including all of the videos from this Radio Show he did last year. There's a lot of range to this guy. Enjoy

Great Movie, Great Group, The Commitments

Alan Parker brought The Commitments to our attention, and did they grab it. Their song selection was absolutely top notch. Here are the Commitments singing the WICKED Wilson Pickett's In The Midnight Hour.

U2's got it Good and it is BAD

It's amazing to think that U2 has been recording for almost 30 years. And this particular video is almost 25 years old. Taken from Live Aid, Bad is probably my favorite U2 song. I freely admit, I am much more a fan of their 1st decade than of their last 2. That said, I did enjoy their week on Letterman. That is quite possibly the coolest television event since John Lennon and Yoko Ono co-hosting Mike Douglas.

Back when I hosted a Jazz Show of WXPR-FM in Rhinelander Wisconsin, I coined the term Crunchy Jazz. It's a direct slam to Smooth Jazz. While I really enjoy some of the original players that either adopted or had the label thrust upon them, the majority of players barely acknowledge the Jazz Players of Yesterday.
